- Our Story
Itaguaçu has begun to form between 1875 and 1880, with the arrival of the first explorers, attracted by the expansion of agriculture. José Theodoro de Andrade, was established in Cork (now the Farm for Good Luck), and the san Francisco José da Silva Coutinho, purchased the land at the Crossing on the banks of the St. Joan's.
Theodore was moved closer to the river, where he built a small house and a small church with a statue of Our Lady of the holy Child, giving birth to the town. In 1882, came the italians and then the germans, who occupied the banks of the river and its tributaries.
